Miss American Fido Summary

Miss American Fido is an "Open Mike" Contest to Find the “Worst Act in San Francisco”.

The show is a spoof on American Idol. The Host of the show is Mark Tyne, the Music Director for SF’s blood splatter theater troupe, Primitive Screwheads. The Miss American Fido Show takes place the last Thursday of each month.

The Miss American Fido Show works just like an open mike. Musicians, Comedians, Jugglers, Spoken Wordists, etc., who want to perform, signup at 7:30PM, the show begins at 8PM, and the winner of “Worst Act of the Month ” is crowned at 10PM.

From January - November 2007, performers compete for the title of “Worst Act of the Month”. On December 20, 2007, performers will compete for the title of “Worst Act of 2007”.

Each performer is given 3-4 minutes to perform their act. At the end of the evening the audience votes for the "Worst Act of the Month". Audience members may vote for as many acts as they want. The host of the show, Mark Tyne, tallies the votes and awards the title of "Worst Act of the Month" to the act with the most votes. The winner is crowned with a rhinestone tiara and is given a cloak, a sash made of a used bicycle inner tube with "Miss American Fido" written on it and a bouquet of plastic roses. Tears are shed as "Miss American Fido" waves to the crowd while Mark sings "There She Is, Miss American Fido". Expect not a dry eye in the house.

Every even month, Miss American Fido does a benefit fundraiser show for a different nonprofit organization in San Francisco. On 12/21/06, Miss American Fido will be doing a benefit for Rocket Dog Rescue, on 2/22/07, a benefit for Shanti and on 4/26/07 a benefit for Urban Sprouts.

The show’s producer, Mark Tyne, plans to pitch the show to network and cable stations with the goal of producing the show for TV or cable.
